Bridge & Infrastructure Seismic Strengthening
The hardest seismic work in California is done over live traffic. We have strengthened sixteen Caltrans freeway structures.
After Loma Prieta and Northridge, California undertook one of the largest bridge seismic retrofit programs in the world. Lehigh Construction's crews performed bridge seismic strengthening and retrofit on sixteen Caltrans state-freeway structures across Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties — overcrossings, undercrossings, on-ramps and a pedestrian bridge, on the 5, 10, 22, 60, 91/71, 101, 110, 405 and 605.
Public-agency bridge work is the most demanding proving ground a structural concrete contractor can have: state inspection at every step, work sequenced over and under live traffic, column casings and bolster work executed to Caltrans tolerances, and zero schedule forgiveness. It is the same discipline we bring inside occupied buildings — load paths, staging, and protection — applied at freeway scale.
For building owners and engineers, the takeaway is simple: the crews strengthening your concrete structure trained on the state's. Our Caltrans record spans bridge seismic strengthening, seismic retrofit, soundwall work, and bridge widening.
